Bringing Action Figures to Life


2000: Madame Tussauds opens in Hong Kong featuring approximately 100 wax figures of internationally-known personalities and local celebrities. Madame Tussauds New York opens, featuring New York's "Movers and Shakers" alongside a whole world of stars.

2001: Music legends Andy Lau, Michelle Yeoh and the Olympic Gold Medalist Lee Lai Shan joins Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

2002: Teresa Teng and David Beckham are gladly invited to the only Madame Tussauds location in Asia Pacific.

2003: Kelly Chen, the ever charming popqueen in Asia and the Rockets Giant Yao Ming enter Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.


2004: Tribute to a legend, the unforgettable Leslie Cheung.
President Hu Jintao joins the cast of great leaders in Madame Tussauds, visitors of the attraction can 'Be a Cover Star' and sparkle with Ayumi Hamasaki.

2005: Madame Tussauds keeps to the Beat with New Andy Lau Silicon Beating Heart Figure. Also, fans can flash their memories back to the glittering moments of Anita Mui.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong began its renovation in September.

2006: Madame Tussauds Hong Kong re-opened on May 18.
Celebrities joining the attraction include Aaron Kwok, Cecilia Cheung, Bae Yong Joon, Liu Xiang, Tiger Woods, Twins, Joey Yung, Connie Chan, Jay Chou, Miriam Yeung and Leon Lai.

2007: Leo Ku and his cartoon sidekick "Kubi" was the first time that the "world famous home of the famous" has introduced a pair of wax figures to its collection.
In celebration of Hong Kong SAR's tenth anniversary, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong featured six world-renowned Chinese figures: Deng Xiaoping, Sun Yatsen, Zhou Enlai, Mao Zedong, Wen Jiabao and Yang Liwei.
Janice voted the most popular celebrity who best represented 'Summer' and joined Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
Angelina Jolie and new look Brad Pitt as the fist 'love couple' to join Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
Football legend Ronaldinho joined the ranks of super stardom at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

2008:Chief Executive Donald Tsang joins Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. He marked the first time that such a high ranking Special Administrative Region leader has graced the 'world famous home of the famous'.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong brings the First Permanent Scare Attraction to Hong Kong – SCREAM.
Lang Lang celebrated his immortalisation in wax at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, marking the first time in the attraction’s global history that a musician has played at his own unveiling.
Hollywood heart-throb Johnny Depp joined Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. The unveiling was in unison with the final of the attraction’s Johnny Depp look-alike competition.
Coincided with 5th anniversary of Anita Mui’s passing, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong unveiled a new costume for Anita Mui’s wax figure and launched the ‘Larger than Life’ Anita Mui Commemorative Drawing Exhibition’ – to celebrate the Hong Kong superstar’s life and illustrious career.

2009:Madame Tussauds Hong Kong swore in President Barack Obama, or rather his wax likeness, marked an exciting milestone for the attraction.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong unveiled the wax likeness of popular Taiwanese model-turned-actress Chiling Lin, who plays the character Xiao Qiao in “Red Cliff II”.
Coincided with 14th anniversary of her passing, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong unveiled a new cheongsam for Teresa Teng’s wax figure in celebration of the star’s distinguished life and career.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong rolls out the Red Carpet for Real Hollywood Royalty Nicole Kidman.
Step into the boots of a superhero, as the very first anime character – Astro Boy launched at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong unveiled ├╝ber-celebrity Madonna’s wax likeness, as well as hosting the “So You Think You Can Dance…Like Madonna?” competition.
